Can anybody tell me?

Can anybody tell me why they let an eighth grade boy run the Oscars?

Can anybody tell me why anyone cares what Kris Jenner thinks about anything?

Can anybody tell me why a church leader who claimed exception above decency and the law should have been voted into office in the first place?

  1. Deb, always enjoy seeing your comments on Adrian’s blog. I keep thinking about running into you in St. Augustine last Sept. when I ask you about some writing. Later you said send it, and I will. but right now I am learning to rewrite and through it is learning more about writing that anywhere else. I wouldn’t mind at all running into you again before next Sept. I read all the Mamma books and a different kind of Mamma runs through the pages of my book. When I met you it was maybe over a hundred pages of mush. Now 441. I will have to take a weed eater to slim it down, or sign up for Jenny Craig.
As far as the award ceremony is concerned, I don’t have much feeling about that since Billy Crystal, but the entertainment news is always good for some jokes and stingers. When do you have a new book coming out? My character gets into a problem with a stalled sail boat and has to go under water to free his propeller and ends up with a boa of seaweed that is coated in something thick and sticky like honey. I thought about your class.

freedom of life provides all sorts of interesting life experiences… yes?
Seth M. is pretty funny – but I didn’t see the Oscars so … I don’t necessarily like Family Guy and I haven’t seen ‘Ted’ as yet (that’s where he’s from of late).

The institutions of organized religions have long been signs of power, greed, corruption – on every scale. They are no different than men who have a hold on women (who stay in abusive situations) – or I suppose women to men. They use their positions of power to prey on innocent. Church people think only they can interpret the words of other men. That whole scenario wreaks of hierarchy. Plus they have manipulated the words of other men to establish credibility and omnipotence.

Not meaning to be hurtful or curt –

As for today’s tv/film execs who stuff the fluff down our throats. It’s way cheaper to produce these shows than to do a true piece of hour long work. Is it that we really want to hear from Kris? Or that the news outlets only COVER her? We are free to not read/hear from her or about her. The true dumbing down of societies.

However, RHO… nj, bh, oc – now there is good television (I kid, I kid).
And I was so looking forward to The History Channel doing some good last night. I won’t even go into detail about ‘the bible’ story from RDowney and hubby. But the Viking mini series is a freakin soap opera set in 700s ad – ugh.

    Happy Monday.

Let it flow in front of you Deb – not through you – in front. Or, write it out. πŸ˜‰

C taped the Oscar show so we could see it together, and I was horrified at the laughing/singing degredation of women.

The whole bye-bye Pope thing, well, double-ugh.

Reality TV? I think people are attracted to it the same way most rubber-neck a traffic accident.

But, okay. πŸ™‚ I’m well over my little rant!

No, I can’t, but interesting questions.

  4. I don’t know, Deb. It seems like the older I get, the less in touch I am with much of what goes on and is considered acceptable and desirable. Doesn’t it seem like much of what we have on TV now is a desperate, tasteless attempt to fill air space?

because servers are down, and speaking of Downton Abbey… you’ve heard O’Brien isn’t returning, yes? I suppose they’ll have to write her out ‘off screen’ – she, along with Matthew and Sybil seemed to want off to pursue other projects.

The O’Brien character wasn’t as active as in season 1 – so perhaps we’ll not miss her so. I didn’t quite get her actions regarding Thomas and what’s-his-name this season.

And of course, the news Shirley MacLaine is returning gives me great joy. If they did episodes soley with her and Maggie Smith – I’d be quite satisfied.

And now, what to do about Isobel? She’s granny to the child – but her son is gone. She really isn’t Downton-related – and certainly wasn’t super accepted.

    • deb reilly says:

Maybe she’ll marry the good doctor after all? Well…O’Brien did get that face lift…And Cara and I were SO MAD when Mathew died. But yeah, Maggie and Shirley. πŸ™‚

  6. Hi Deb,

What is it that makes you ask these questions, apt as they are? What could you do to listen inside for the answers?

    Shakti

    • deb reilly says:

Thanks for stopping by, Shakti. Our society has decided disrespect and self-promotion are worthy of our attention and/or our approval. My questions were rethorical, meant to inspire other people to ask them of themselves. πŸ™‚ Best wishes to you!
